The Kartarpur Corridor is a sacred pilgrimage site for Sikhs and is located in the district in Narowal, Pakistan. It was the residence of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He spent the last days of his life and this is where he died. After his death, a Gurudwara was built here in his memory. Which was named ‘Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur‘.

Kartarpur Sahib

It is considered to be the largest gurdwara in the world. This place is about 4.7 kilometers from the Indian border and about 120 kilometers from Lahore. It is believed that the place where this gurudwara is built, on 22 September 1539, Guru Nanak Dev ji breathed his last. According to beliefs, Guru Nanak Dev ji, the founder of Sikhism, came to Kartarpur in 1522. It is believed that Guru Nanak Dev ji spent the last 17 years and 5 months of his life.

Kartarpur Sahib is considered to be the world’s first and largest gurdwara. The foundation of which was laid by Guru Nanak Dev ji and at this place he spent the last moments of his life. However, this gurudwara was washed away due to the floods in the Ravi river. After this the gurudwara was rebuilt by Maharaja Ranjit.  During the partition of India and Pakistan, this gurdwara had gone to Pakistan.

Because of which citizens of India had to require a visa to visit Kartarpur Sahib. Those who were not able to visit Kartarpur Sahib, they see with the help of binoculars in the gurdwara Shaheed Baba Siddha San Randhawa located in Dera Baba Nanak on the Indian border. However, after the opening of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, devotees of India can go and visit directly. Because visa is no longer needed.
